Believe it or not, you can be a full-time gamer. Here are multiple options for those interested in the industry.

If you told people several decades ago that there would be multiple ways to take up gaming as a profession, they would call you crazy. However, fast forward to the present day, and more people than ever before work within the gaming sector or are studying to do so eventually.

As is the case with a lot of things, gaming is more of an umbrella term because there are so many components to it, and this really suits those who want to get involved. Because of the inclusion and accessibility gaming promotes in general; there is something for everyone. If they have a passion for gaming in some way, shape or form, they’re going to find a way to make it pay as a profession. There is the option to study a specific area, which may be directly or indirectly related to gambling, to find an in of sorts. It’s certainly worth considering as a lot of skills learned will potentially be transferrable, not just within the gaming industry, but beyond it too.

Of course, these are more traditional avenues that people may travel down when they want to work within gaming circles. But there are more modern ways that people are taking up gaming as a profession, and a lot of it comes down to actually playing the games rather than being involved in the development process. And it’s fair to say that this undoubtedly appears to be a significantly better fit with millennials.

Who would’ve thought that you could play video games as a profession and make good money doing so? Well, you can, and there are a couple of ways to go about it. We now live in the era of streaming, and platforms such as Twitch are the go-to for broadcasters who earn money by streaming themselves playing video games. In addition, they will often have YouTube channels where they upload clips, which will further add to the revenue they make.

If they are really good at gaming, especially at one title in particular, they can become a professional gamers by competing in eSports, which is essentially competitive gaming. More people than ever before are taking up the profession of being a competitive video gamer, proving that it’s never been easier to earn a living from being involved in the gaming arena.
