With “Game of Thrones” finally set to come to an end after eight seasons of sensational television, some of the actors involved might be wondering what to do with themselves. Certainly, many of the stars who were made by the HBO series might not be fully prepared for life outside of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” adaptation that they started working on in 2011.

For some of the actors who play minor characters, such as John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly, it may be difficult to find work on such an esteemed show. This shouldn’t be a problem for Emilia Clarke, though, who shot to worldwide stardom as Daenerys Targaryen, one of the two most important characters in the series.

She Could Still Exist in the Massive ‘Game of Thrones’ Universe

The “Game of Thrones” franchise is massive, and is by no means limited to the exciting and intriguing series. With the show attracting over 17 million viewers per episode, there was never any doubt that it would branch out into various other sections of the media. In fact, there seems to be an endless chain of merchandise and games, and now there is even talk of at least five spinoff series.

The next HBO series set in the world of Westeros is likely to focus on a period in its history known as The Long Night, which occurred around 8,000 years prior to the events of “Game of Thrones.” At this point, House Targaryen didn’t even exist, so it is highly unlikely that Clarke will be on board with the project in any way. But the 32-year-old could appear in later spinoff series — that’s if she isn’t shockingly killed off this time out.

There is a chance that there will be more “Game of Thrones” games in the future too, seeing as though the already existing ones have been successful. First there was the “Game of Thrones” slot game from Microgaming, which is one of the most-played online slots on the market.

Soon after this was released, there was a console offering from Telltale Games of the same name; the game featured some of the original cast, including Clarke as Daenerys.

Players have continued to urge developers to make more content based on the HBO series. At one point there was talk of Bethesda Software creating an open-world offering, but this has yet to come to fruition.

The publisher was also responsible for “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” which is considered one of the best open-world games of all time. If they managed to recreate Westeros in a similar way, it could be epic. If that were to happen, Clarke would be required to voice her iconic character once again.

Clarke Has Already Broken into Hollywood

The good news for Clarke is that she has already broken into Hollywood and made herself known to the some of the biggest names in the business. Clarke didn’t take on a small role in order to burst onto the scene either; she appeared as one of the most famous sci-fi heroes of all time: Sarah Connor, in “Terminator Genisys,” in 2015.

Despite the film receiving largely negative reviews, the movie was a box office success and pulled in $440 million worldwide. Clarke was nominated for a Jupiter Award for best international actress for her performance in the sequel to James Cameron’s iconic pictures.

Her performance as Connor helped her nab other roles too, including parts as Louisa Clark in 2016’s “Me Before You,” and Qi’ra in the Star Wars spin-off “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” in 2018.

Clarke had only been acting in “Game of Thrones” for a couple of seasons before she was approached for the huge project from Skydance Productions. Since the film’s release, the Mother of Dragons has become an even more recognizable face, which can be attributed to the expanding viewership of “Game of Thrones.”

For instance, “Terminator Genisys” was released in the same year as the fifth season of “GoT.” At the time, the series was pulling in an average of 6.88 million people per episode. By Season 7 though, that figure had shot up to 10.26 million per episode. The numbers would suggest, then, that Clarke will be an even more sought-after actress than she was back when she starred in the Alan Taylor film.

Could She Become One of the Most Famous Actresses on the Planet?

Clarke has already picked up a number of awards for her performances as the rightful heir to the Iron Throne hell-bent on reclaiming her family’s seat of power. She has shown a number of different sides to her character as the series has progressed as well.

Initially, it seemed as though she was being written as the conquering hero whom viewers were supposed to cheer for. But in more recent times, Daenerys has shown darker, Mad Queen-like tendencies. Clarke has switched between likable and dislikable seamlessly, and her acting has been lauded.

In 2018, Clarke had already picked up 10 awards from a total of 26 nominations, including best supporting actress at the 2011 EWwy Awards, and outstanding female rising star in a drama series or special at the 2012 Gracie Awards. Indeed, she is one of the most decorated actors out of the entire “Game of Thrones” cast. There is a good chance she will go on to even bigger and better things.

It seems fair to assume that when “Game of Thrones” wraps up it won’t be the last we see of Clarke on television and in film. She has been one of the highlights of the series, and she is likely to be swatting away offers from major studios for many years to come.
