A24 Continues To Deliver Applause-Worthy Films

The film studio A24 continues to reap its successes with films that contribute a unique perception of the world.

The independent movie company A24 (formerly known as A24 Films) has managed to garner a large audience for their films in recent years. With 127 titles under the company’s belt, their fans have a wide selection of entertainment to choose from, including projects that have completed production and release dates, as well as upcoming releases. Dedicated viewers have recently labeled themselves as ‘A24 fans’ and religiously follow the company’s films as it continues to pump out transformative works. With multiple A24 films winning major cinematic awards, it comes as no surprise to dedicated fans that the A24 name has become synonymous with success.

Since A24’s origin in 2012, they have gained a lot of attention despite the fact that their films have only accumulated 11 years of screen time. Still, in such a short span of time there have been multiple film releases that have easily become cult classics. One of the first A24 films to garner mainstream attention was “Springbreakers.” The risqué movie, starring James Franco, Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson, follows four rowdy college students as they let loose during their spring break. Soon thereafter, the company released a number of well-known films, most of which are amazing watches.

A24’s brilliant directors produce impactful films that capture their audience’s attention through unique narratives and honest depictions of life. Greta Gerwig’sLady Bird” portrays its main character’s struggles with girlhood in her pursuit of an identity. Saoirse Ronan’s performance draws in an audience that finds her character and life relatable. Another selectable film, “Room,” tells the disturbing story of a woman who was kidnapped and imprisoned with her child. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay’s performances in this disheartening movie will almost surely bring its viewers to tears. Other movies, such as “Eighth Grade” and “Mid90s,” portray the lives of children and teenagers as they navigate the pitfalls of adolescence. Films such as these serve as emblems for young people, as their struggles are represented on the big screen.

Other notable films attached to A24 include “Waves” and “Aftersun,” whose plots are more heartbreaking, showing the thematic range in the studio’s repertoire. Even the films that A24 fans consider underrated are quite compelling, and each makes incredible use of time to tell a story that makes every minute worthwhile.

This past year, A24 has experienced unprecedented success with the release of critically acclaimed titles such as: “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” “The Whale,” “Aftersun,” “Causeway,” “Close” and “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On.” For the first time in ten years, A24 made history at the 95th Academy Awards when they recieved a total of 18 nominations for these successful films. In the end, tearjerkers such as “The Whale” and “Everything Everywhere All At Once” took home a couple of wins. Brendan Fraser and Michelle Yeoh’s performances in each production were among the variety of talent that A24 delivers both on and off-screen.

In the near future, A24 has several upcoming films planned featuring notable faces and directors. Ari Aster’s latest film, “Beau Is Afraid” starring Joaquin Phoenix, is a promising yet disturbing flick that typifies A24’s signature weirdness. Considering the studio’s history of successful releases, current films they have in the works are sure to impress both fans and casual viewers alike.

With a number of reputable films under its belt, A24 raises the bar for filmmakers and film buffs alike. The hype that accompanies upcoming features such as Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla” exemplifies the sense of anticipation that precedes any A24 release. There are still over a dozen A24 films set to hit the big screen, and fans can hardly wait.
