There are plenty of games entering our libraries every year, and some of them become favorites. Many can’t seem to rip themselves away from them, even years after they’ve been released. In other words, these games keep us playing year after year whether it is because of excellent gameplay, newly added content post-release, or regular tweaks to the formula that improve it or make it more engaging over time.

Below are some of the best online games that are addictive to play.

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is undoubtedly one of the largest and most popular MMOs out there, with over 15 years of content updates spanning seven expansion packs. A lot of people who were interested in the MMO genre were intimidated by the MMORPG gameplay formula before World of Warcraft, as well as the idea of hardcore grinding — that would soon change.

Final Fantasy XIV

Besides delivering one of the best expansions for Final Fantasy XIV with Shadowbringers, game director Yoshi-P alongside Team Square Enix were able to deliver quality-of-life updates that make the game even better for old and new players alike. Several changes were made to improve combat, and some features like the Trust System have been geared toward gamers with a love for single-player campaigns.

The newest update for this game had more than just the usual patches, as it also included a crossover event with Final Fantasy XV, and post-game content developed in partnership with Nier Automata. Final Fantasy XIV is one of the top contenders for the best ongoing game of the year, thanks to Square Enix’s livestream updates and community fan events.

Dota 2

An extremely challenging game, Dota 2 offers a great deal of variety in terms of both characters and items that players can use. You don’t have to use all of Dota 2’s heroes and roles, and the freedom to play creatively keeps it interesting even if you don’t know all the characters. Keeping players interested is possible through regular updates and seasonal events.

There is more to these updates than just balance. The latest massive update to Dota 2 that alters some fundamentals of the game is one of the most exciting so far since the game first came out of beta in 2013. Players love coming back to Dota 2 because there is so much change happening in the meta and there is an interesting community helping them interpret the changes.

League of Legends

League of Legends continues to hold the position of being one of the most accessible games for a broad audience of PC users, while also being able to offer a variety of gameplay that keeps players interested. Free-to-play by design, this game instantly became accessible to anyone with a computer with a half-decent graphics card.

Wins in this game are made possible by teamwork, skills and knowledge of the game. League of Legends maintains a very active community, and the game developers are constantly tweaking the game to keep it interesting. As a result, you feel like you are always playing something “new,” yet fundamentally sound.

Hearthstone

People who have played Hearthstone for five years may find the competitive landscape of the game tiring, but the other modes of the game continue to keep it popular in 2022. The single-player experience in Hearthstone has grown surprisingly large over time. Hearthstone offers more than 10 unique single-player experiences, including Dungeon Runs and Puzzle Lab.

Those who still enjoy competitive gaming might find the new Battlegrounds automatic battler mode in the game to be a cool addition. The new auto battler mode appears to have introduced a needed change in the competitive realm.

CS: GO

The competitive first-person shooter genre still has a special place for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, despite its release in August 2012. Although CS: GO is an esports favorite for its competitive gameplay, it also offers casual and competitive modes that appeal to a variety of players. Also, CS:GO players interested in getting into the competitive scene have many chances to do so by participating in a variety of esports competitions and leagues available year-round.

CS: GO seeks to challenge players with pure strategy and skill. As a top player, it is vital to master specific spray patterns for the different weapons available and have a strong sense of teamwork in competitive games. The game has plenty of content for anyone, whether they are looking to compete and challenge themselves, or play casually. It also continues to be among the best multiplayer FPS games out there, thanks to updates this year from Valve.

Rainbow Six Siege

When Rainbow Six Siege was launched back in 2015, not many people imagined it would become a top seller. The game seems to be getting fresher every time Ubisoft updates it, tweaks the operators and hosts new championships.

Throughout the last year, most gamers have gone back to Siege and found great enjoyment in watching the many strategies videos produced by fans that blend information with some blunderous humor in which creators poke fun at their mistakes from the beginning. As you learn easy strategies such as camera placement or making a rotation between points, you find yourself improving even as a beginner. There is a large community out there that is willing to teach you the best methods of breaching. The game shows no sign of slowing down any time soon with the operator total reaching 52 with the addition of Kali and Wamai.

Battlestar Galactica

The game is based on the Galactica universe, and it’s a browser-based adventure. Start with a tiny viper and progress to a larger, more capable ship; it’s exactly what sci-fi fans expect. It’s easy to get involved in space combat, but it’s hard to escape. The climb to the top is long, however. While exploring the cosmos, you can still see familiar faces from the television show.

Hawken

This is an action-packed game that keeps players on the edge of their seats as they attempt to dodge the next round of bullets or explosives. Furthermore, the sheer number of possible weapons and gadgets that a gamer can obtain can provide them with all sorts of options. There is enough content to keep players interested and this game handles player progression well.

Fortnite

Fortnite may have reached saturation and you may be bored hearing about it, but one can’t deny that it has become a phenomenon that has made several streamers’ careers and frequently brings viewers to platforms like Twitch and Mixer.

There is always a reason to sign up for the game thanks to the frequent updates and partnerships, such as playing as Batman to explore Gotham or as Thanos to roam the world causing havoc. The battle royale genre is filled with many interesting games, but Fortnite remains the king for now.

Destiny 2

During its release in September 2017, Destiny 2 made a lot of improvements, but some fans still believed the original’s nearly perfect systems did not translate into Destiny 2. In PVP, teams became larger, power levels were adjusted through mods, and there was only one big-boss damage encounter in Raid. The game was good, but it failed to deliver what was promised.

The studio is well known for their original sandbox, and they continue to do so with Destiny 2 Shadowkeep’s return of the 3v3 PVP mode, an infusion of narrative into the overall story, and the continuation of the PVE changes that started with Forsaken last year.

Players appear to be building a playstyle that promotes builds, weapons pairings, and balance. While Destiny has seen its highs and lows throughout development, Bungie has also done an excellent job of poking and prodding the engine until it reached a place the community was satisfied with. Last year, Destiny 2 ranked as the No. 1 paid and free game on Steam because of its regular updates, cross-save feature, and the fact that it was, well, free. The future of Destiny 2 looks bright thanks to Bungie, which is fully committed to getting it right.

Overwatch

Overwatch is a game that is constantly evolving. The game is a modern paradigm of hero-based first-person shooters, full of addictive gameplay, a variety of gameplay modes, and backed by a lively community that sustains and supports the game.

Overwatch is a community ecosystem that gives new meaning to the hero-shooter genre through communities such as subreddits, discords and Jeff Kaplan’s patch notes overview videos. Many can’t wait to see how Overwatch 2 builds on the original foundation, but when it is released, you can be sure it will be a different game than the current iteration of Overwatch, and that is what keeps many intrigued and wanting to play it.

Call of Duty

It has been said that Call of Duty is a violent game, but it is undeniably one of the most addictive online games on the planet. This game has such a level of engagement that it enables players to indulge some of the traits that our hunter-gatherer ancestors left behind. Gamers who play first-person shooters seem to have an elevated adrenaline level. Most players become addicted to these games because of this.

Minecraft

Every time a new game is released, it has become more and more popular. This game offers several modes in which users must build their campus and survive and conquer animals, people and food.

It’s a 3D sandbox game without many restrictions. With this game, users have the ability to survive and build their campus as well as have total control over animals, people and food.

Apex Legends

Since its release, this game has been making headlines. Those who do not play PUBG and Fortnite but enjoy playing battlefield games should check out this game. Six teams of players compete in the game, with three players in a squad remaining on the island to scavenge for weapons and other resources to fight against other squads.

It is a race to see which squad has the most team players. This game now uses the map games and ping system. Additionally, it earns its place among the top superhero-themed games of 2022.

18+ Online Casino Games

Slot machines and twenty-one, or blackjack, have always been some of the casinos most popular and addictive games. The rules are straightforward, and the games are fun to play; no wonder it’s popular. However, you must be at least 18 years old to play at online casinos and don’t play if you get addicted easily.

Playing at online casino sites can be fun and addictive, so make sure that you have set a limit on how much money to use when playing at online casinos that take Visa. Other casino games to mention would be roulette, and poker.
