It’s been about a week since the trailer for the latest “Spider-Man” movie came out, and many Marvel fans are confused and excited, to say the least. MCU buffs have been proposing some interesting theories as to what happens to the rest of the Avengers, since the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” trailer does little to show life post “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Now, I’m not the most knowledgeable person about the Marvel Universe, but this trailer raised some major questions about the fate of Peter Parker and, really, the rest of the Avengers. Does “Spider-Man: Far from Home” take place before the whole “Avengers: Infinity War” world debacle, or after “Avengers: Endgame”?

After this question was posed by many people on Twitter, fans came to the conclusion that the film does indeed take place after “Avengers: Endgame.” From the release of the “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) safety from Thanos and the snap of his fingers, is already guaranteed. But what about the rest of the planet?

In the trailer, there seem to be no major advancements in society; civilian life is normal.

After venturing into the deep Reddit threads about what happens to the Avengers, many fans have posited that Parker ends up in an alternate universe after Thanos destroys their current one.

Regardless of whether Parker is in an alternate universe or not, the trailer for “Spider-Man: Far From Home” guarantees that he made it out alive.

Judging from the trailer, the premise of “Spider-Man: Far From Home” looks ordinary — Peter Parker goes on a school trip trying to escape his duties in Manhattan. Parker is accompanied by his two good friends — Ned (Jacob Batalon) and M.J. (Zendaya) — on his tour through Europe. Early on in the trip, Parker realizes that villains don’t just live in New York City and with the help S.H.I.E.L.D’s Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Spider-Man has another mentor to help him defeat the multitude of villains that are about to come at him.

This time around, Spider-Man is going against the Elementals, a group of four humanoids who have immortal powers. The Elementals are made up of Hellfire, a flamethrower and the group’s leader; Hydron, the controller of water; Magnum, the manipulator of all earth materials; and Zephyr, the female airbender.

It is unusual, as was mentioned in another article, that Fury was recruiting Spider-Man out of all the Avengers. Spider-Man has the least experience, and his powers aren’t as strong as some of the other canonical superheroes’. This is a major hint that maybe some of the more powerful Avengers might not make it back home.

Taking into consideration that Spider-Man may not be powerful enough to stop the Elementals, Fury recruits another key “hero,” Mysterio. In the comics, Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is portrayed as one of Spider-Man’s villains, but in the film, he’s ready to use his special devices and illusions to help fight off the antiheroes. This concept of Mysterio being a hero goes along with the theory that Spider-Man ends up within an alternate universe, one where enemies become friends. Or, it’s possible that Mysterio uses his illusion powers to make people think he’s the hero when, really, he could be the villain.

Some more articles also made it clear that Spider-Man and Mysterio aren’t alone in their fight. They are also joined by the Vulture (Michael Keaton), the main villain from “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

A majority of the cast from “Spider-Man: Homecoming” are returning for “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” In the trailer, Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) even helps Parker during a press conference, along with Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) still looking after Parker. But there is one person who seems to be missing from the trailer: the one and only Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Marvel Studios purposely left Stark out of the trailer to trick viewers, but was it because they didn’t want to spoil that Iron-Man saves the world in “Avengers: Endgame,” or was it because Stark actually isn’t in the film?

Personally, I have a feeling that Iron Man will not die in “Avengers: Endgame”; he’ll simply retire and continue to mentor Spider-Man. But, by not including Stark and from the looks of the trailer, anything is possible in this Marvel Universe.

The plot of this film and most Marvel films seem very straightforward when watching the trailer, but I have no doubt that Marvel will leave fans in awe by the end of “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

Even though there have been many “Spider-Man” movies, each one is different in its own way, and they get better and better every time. The villains are different and more intricate, and Spider-Man gains more abilities and strength. New relationships with classic characters form and Parker even grows as an individual. Spider-Man is a character that many have come to love because he’s the kind of teenager many people wish they were: courageous yet humble. It’s why this new “Spider-Man” film is worth watching.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” releases in theaters on July 5, but until then, fans will be anticipating the arrival of “Captain Marvel” and the finale, “Avengers: Endgame.” In 2018, Marvel Studios celebrated 10 years of creating a cinematic universe, something that has never been done before. Now, they have a reputation to uphold, and for many people, they have maintained, if not exceeded expectations.
