Following the tragedy of the Aurora theater massacre, Christian Bale attended the memorial for the victims as well as meeting with those in the hospital.
According to an article on nydailynews.com, several internet campaigns were created in an attempt to get Bale to visit the victims in the hospital donning a full batman costume.
A young women named Emily Sanchez posted on her Facebook, "I propose we should make enough noise asking Christian Bale to visit these kids in the hospital dressed in the real Batman outfit. They need to know Heroes can be real too, not just the bad guys."
Although the intentions are purely good, I had my doubts regarding the possibility of the "real Batman outfit" due to issues like post traumatic stress disorder. Thankfully, Bale came as himself.
The assistant of Susan Fleishman, the executive vice president for corporate communications at Warner Bros, Â confirmed that Bale was not acting as as a spokesperson or representing Warner Bros, but as an individual.
It is evident that the visit from Bale was a selfless gesture and a true testament to his character.  Bale spoke about the tragedy in a statement: "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
